Parents: Beware of iPod Porn
Two of the most popular gifts for children and young adults this past holiday season, were the video enabled Apple iPod and the Play Station Portable - both of which are vulnerable to porn.
According to SurfControl, this activity is already being referred to as “PodPorn” or “PornCasting”. In short: Kids could download pornographic content in full color video with sound… and the popular digital media devices out there today have no such thing as parental controls.
Since iPods get their content from a PC, parents are encouraged to monitor the videos and content downloaded to their kids’ computers. Also use standard filtering tools for downloads, like you would with websites, chats and instant messages. Gadgets such as the PSP connect to the Internet directly however, and SurfControl advises you to talk to your kids about appropriate online behavior. I personally feel you should also randomly look through the content on the device just to be safe.
