Where will the iPod be in the year 2010?
Lately I have been thinking what will come of the iPod and where will its direction lead. How will it get there? How will all this other technology affect it? Just trying to think of the future and it’s literally impossible.
This all started when I picked up the book, I, Robot. Yes, the book that was made in a movie. The book was written in 1958. The story states that the robot company was made in 1982 and now it was 2052, I believe. I do not have the book with me. While I have seen the movie, I have not read the whole book, I have just skimmed it.
It was amazing to think that in 1958, actually before because that was when it was published the author envisioned robots starting in 1982. The whole ideas of where everything comes from.
So, now I sit here thinking where will the iPod be in four years, 2010. I am clueless. There are so many angles to start on. Lets start off assuming our internet connections will move from 6 mbps download and 768 kbps upload all the way up to maybe 25 mbps download and 4 mbps upload. These figures could actually be correct or they could be way off. We do have to say that Japan already has an average broadband speed of 30 mbs download. So will we make a huge jump in this time? Your guess is as good as mine.
With whatever the speeds are, lets assume that the iTunes Music Store turns into an iTunes Store of numerous things. Lets say those things are Movies, Music, Television Shows, Music Videos and let’s throw in there Computer Applications because that is very easily possible. Having one place to buy all your programs and updates. That just came to me. All these possibilities are endless.
