Accused iPod Thief Turns Self In
One of two Wal-Mart employees accused of stealing nearly $30,000 worth of iPods from the Loveland distribution center has turned himself in to police.
Forty-eight-year-old Gregg Friedman of Longmont turned himself into police Wednesday after a warrant was issued for his arrest in connection with the iPod heist.
The Wal-Mart Distribution Center located at 7500 Crossroads Blvd had discovered a loss of 26 cases of iPods earlier Wednesday and alerted police.
Friedman and 33-year-old Tim Sanderson of Loveland were both wanted for theft and conspiracy. There is still a warrant out for the arrest of Sanderson.
Police say the same two were responsible for an earlier theft in which approximately $10,000 worth of merchandise was taken.
In both cases, the suspects are said to have cooperated and detectives have recovered nearly all of the stolen iPods, Game Boy Advanced units and Micros, 2 JVC mini DV camcorders and Gerber utility knives.
A warrant has also been issued for Michael Cantrell, age 20, of Loveland, for being an accessory to the crime. Cantrell is alleged to have been selling some of the items on E-Bay.
Friedman posted a $2500 bond.
